Comprehensive Determination of Amino Acids for Diagnosis of Inborn Errors of Metabolism,, and limits of detection are at least 1.0 μM. Important isobaric amino acids are distinguished by chromatography or by unique patterns of fragmentation following collision-induced dissociation (CID). The technique employs commercially available reagents and may be expanded and customized for specific clinical or research settings.

Measurement of Urinary Free Cortisol and Cortisone by LC-MS/MS,Urine samples, combined with stable isotope-labeled internal standards, are extracted by liquid-liquid extraction using ethyl acetate and hexane. An API 5500 mass spectrometer operated in positive atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) mode is used for detection.

Quantitation of Neuroblastoma Markers Homovanillic Acid (HVA) and Vanillylmandelic Acid (VMA) in Urbis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide (BSTFA) with 1% trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS) and pyridine mixture is added to the dried extract to create trimethylsilyl derivatives of HVA and VMA. The derivatized compounds are measured using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS).

Multifactors Model and Portfolio Managementssay has a total run time of 5.8 minutes and a limit of quantification of 0.5 ng/mL with a linear range up to 100 ng/mL. No carryover was observed at 10 μg/mL. This assay also incorporates the routine monitoring of prednisolone, a potential interferent to salivary cortisol.
