The Burden of Chronicity,teful and full of admiration for the medical team that saved their life..A chronic disease, on the other hand, is silent, often incurable, and has an uncertain progressive course. Pain linked to chronic disease is mostly persistent, although sometimes intermittent. Chronicity is a burden that both patients and caregiver must bear.

How to Treat the Sick and, Above All, Where?,ly or the sanatorium famous because of the novel by Thomas Mann, ., have been closed. All over the world nowadays tuberculosis is treated with DOTS (directly observed treatment short-course) and hospitalisation is rarely necessary.
