描述That geriatric cardiology has become a science and clinicaldiscipline in its own rights is beyond dispute. Most cardiac disorderspresent with different symptoms and signs, require a differentdiagnostic and therapeutic approach, and also have a differentprognosis in the elderly as compared to younger patients. ..Cardiovascular Disease in the Elderly. provides a comprehensive,up-to-date guide to the physician, representing a pioneering work inthis increasingly complex area. For this third edition most of thechapters have been completely rewritten, some by different authors.Four new chapters have been added, dealing with cardiactransplantation, invasive cardiovascular procedures, dietaryconsiderations and ethical considerations. It cannot be denied thatinvasive procedures and transplantation are highly controversial inthis area, and the ethical dilemmas involved are ably discussed by DrDavis and associates. .All chapters are supplied with a thorough list of references, makingthis third edition of .Cardiovascular Disease in the Elderly. themost thorough, concise guide for the practicing physician. .

The Challenges of Nuclear Minimalismust be aware that complaints and physicial signs, which in younger patients suggest cardiac decompensation, may in the elderly be nonspecific. Most importantly, as in other groups of patients, confirmation of the diagnosis of heart failure should be the starting point in a search for reversible or specifically treatable underlying causes.

Missile Defense: A Pakistani Perspectivee less invasive and less expensive procedures with fewer risks in order to diagnose disease and follow patients with known disease. Technological advances have made available a wider array of clinical studies which, if used appropriately, add to our ability to recognize and treat cardiovascular diseases in the elderly population.

Risk Modification, not susceptible to intervention. Implicit in the risk-factor concept is the hope that reduction of the level of risk will result in an improved outlook not only for the individual but also for whole populations treated by public health measures.
