https://doi.org/10.1007/978-1-4614-3858-8describe a new setup for optical board-level connections which is based on free space optics and allows the switching of signals within the optical domain. We describe the evolutionary optimization of design parameters for the proposed setup, done with a memetic evolutionary algorithm and present the optimization results.

Testing Diversity-Enhancing Migration Policies for Hybrid On-Line Evolution of Robot Controllers (migration) policies in order to optimize this evolutionary system and compare the best hybrid setup with the encapsulated and distributed alternatives. We conclude that adding a difference-based migrant selection scheme increases the performance.
