Das generische Maskulinum als potenzielle Quelle für innersprachliche und zwischensprachliche Missve the German autohyponym is translated into Turkish in which personal names are generally gender-abstracting. In this respect, using the example of the translation of the noun teacher into Turkish I pursue the question of whether autohyponymous generic masculine nouns can lead to different equivalence problems between German and Turkish.
