Bibliotheken,Das Wort „Bibliothek“ (von biblion = Buch, thekè = Behältnis) stammt aus dem Griechischen und bezeichnete, dem Wortstamm entsprechend, zunächst nur den Aufbewahrungsort der Bücher. Später wurde es auch zur Bezeichnung der gesammelten Bücher selbst verwandt. Mit dieser zweifachen Bedeutung wird das Wort „Bibliothek“ noch heute gebraucht.
