Host Galaxies of Quasarsereas optical and X-ray quasars reside in spiral galaxies. The host galaxies of radio-loud quasars are brighter by ∼ 2 mag than those of radio-quiet ones; the brightest ones have luminosities comparable to those of brightest cluster galaxies. The neighborhood of quasars has higher than average galax

IRAS Observations of Active Galaxiesar 3C48 is shown to be exceptional among the radio loud quasars in that it has a high infrared luminosity which dominates the power output of the quasar and is most likely associated with the underlying host galaxy.

Internal Dynamics and Formation of Emission Clouds in Active Galactic Nucleision-line regions of OSO’s and Seyfert galaxies, and are thermally unstable as they heat up. This results in a two-phase equilibrium: cold clouds embedded in a hot, Compton-heated background. The hot wind provides the pressure confinement for the dense and massive clouds.

Host Galaxies of Quasarsshift objects..Very deep surfacephotometry of 2 radio-loud low-redshift quasars shows that in one case (1635+119, z = 0.146) the host galaxy can very well be fitted by an elliptical galaxy over 3 orders in intensity; the host galaxy of 4C14.83 (z = 0.237) is strongly asymmetric and can not be well fitted by either elliptical or spiral galaxy.

Continuity in the Observed Properties of QSOs, High-Redshift Emission-Line Radio Galaxies, BL Lac Obaratively closeby. They radiate assymetrically, in a cone directed away from their direction of motion. They must he ejected from galaxies with velocities which range from very small values for QSOs with low redshifts which appear to lie in galaxies, to values in the range 0.1c–0.9c for the higher r
