Open Source Software,The roots of “open source software” (OSS) go back to the practices of scientific research organizations of the 1960s and 1970s, such as Bell Labs, Xerox Park and the University of California at Berkeley, where this type of voluntary “code sharing” was quite common (Raymond, 1999).
