Selectivity of Translational Excitation in Reactive Collisions. The Alkaline Plus Alkyl Halide React X group is outlined. A comparison of these reactive processes with photofragmentation and electron attachment studies of the same RX molecule is also presented revealing important similarities. This common behaviour seems to indicate the same overall selectivity as a result of the similar main dynamics associated with the same R-X bond rupture.

The Effect of Electronic Excitation in the Reactions of Oxygen Atoms with Simple Hydride Molecules into the molecular bond under attack. This results in the transient formation of a strongly-bound singlet intermediate, which may undergo very complex dynamical behaviour before dissociating-to products. This behaviour is illustrated by detailed discussions of the oxygen atom reactions with H. and the hydrogen halides.
