Regional Overview of Metamorphism in the Scandinavian Caledonidesg of the crust..The metamorphism probably took place during various climactic events from the Late Precambrian to Upper Devonian time. The most important were related to subduction/ocean closure during the Ordovician to Cambrian and continental collision in the Late Silurian.

Paleomagnetism of Lower Carboniferous (Tournaisian to Namurian) Volcanic Rocks of New Brunswick, Canratigraphic zones of New Brunswick and the distribution of paleomagnetic sampling sites are shown in Figure 1. Detailed alternating field and thermal experiments performed on the New Brunswick volcanic rocks indicate that they are characterized by two different mean directions of magnetization in th

Gravity and Magnetic Studies of Crustal Structure in Newfoundlandiams, et al, 1972, 1974; Williams, 1979) (Fig. 1). Concurrent with the development of this concept geophysical surveys were being conducted in the Newfoundland portion of the Appalachians which resulted in the refinement of the zone boundaries (Miller and Deutsch, 1976; Miller, 1977; Miller and Weir

Compilation of Canadian Magnetic Anomaly Maps: A Status Report 1972 and 1977. The coloured MAM of Canada demonstrated that features of large areal extent such as geological provinces were readily delineated and proved the usefulness of producing such regional compilations. In 1981, the first four digitally-produced coloured 1:1 M MAM’s were published for an ar

Regional Gravity Trends Associated with the Mauritanides Orogen (West Africa) the West African Precambrian cra-tion and its sedimentary cover (Fig. 1). The Belt is interrupted only between 20°N and 21°N by the Reguibat uplift which protrudes westward in that area. Westward, the internal margin of the orogen is hidden beneath the thick Mesozoic-Cenozoic deposits of the Maurit

Geophisycal Evidence for the Existence of Mauritanide Structures Beneath the U. S. Atlantic Coastal des, and a suture zone somewhere between the two zones of thrusting. The reconstruction of the Early Jurassic closure of the Atlantic by Klitgord and Schouten (1982). serves as a framework for examining geophysical evidence of this suture zone.
