Morphometric Evaluation of Populations of Neuronal Profiles in the Central Nervous SystemThe present paper will review some developments in the quantitation of populations of neuronal profiles (cell bodies, dendrites and nerve terminals). Some general tools will be introduced as a background for specific neurobiological applications. The theoretical bases for each procedure will be illustrated.

Immunocytochemistry of Neuropeptide Receptors using Anti-Idiotypic Antibodies and Antibodies to Peptnce research and has given rise to the development of new technologies, especially in neurocytochemistry. We will briefly present and discuss here two immunological methodologies leading to the production of antibodies against receptors for neuropeptides: the anti-idiotypic and “anti-complementary peptide” methodologies.
