Materials Science of Wear-Protective Nanostructured Thin Filmsement; X=C/N). These phases combine ceramic and metallic properties. MAX phases in thin film form are reported, including Ti.SiC. and Ti.AlN. Nanoindentation combined with electron microscopy reveals kink formation and cohesive delamination on the basal planes of these ductile materials.

Stress Development and Relaxation in Nanostructured Films Deposited by Cathodic Vacuum Arcstudied as well as the effect of highly charged ions. The results of these studies show the key role of the energy input per ion on the stress level. Strategies to deposit thick hard films with minimum stress are proposed.

Synthesis and Properties of TiB2/TiN and TiB2/B4C Filmsited with external magnetic field. In the case of crystalline films, the decrease of grain size and especially of standard deviation of the grain size values were also fixed. Some samples were vacuum-annealed up to 1000°C.
