Cell-to-cell interaction between cultured and host cells is prevented by the chamber walls, whereas the cultured cells may be freely exposed to humoral factors.

The dominant features are local infiltration and metastasis to regional lymph nodes (Carter and Pittam, 1980). Clinically apparent metastases at distant sites are uncommon except in patients with carcinomas of the nasopharynx.

The Relationship Between Malignant Melanoma Morphology, Metastases and Patient Survival,een paid to its dissemination to regional lymph nodes and to the management of clinically uninvolved nodes. However, it should be noted that melanomas often disseminate to distant organs without affecting regional lymph nodes.
