Skin Graft Harvesting specifically in 1804, an Italian surgeon by the name of Boronio was the first to successfully transplant a full-thickness skin graft in a sheep, and in 1869 Reverdin obtained skin grafts and transplanted them successfully in humans. Thiersch was the first surgeon to use split-thickness skin grafts for the reconstruction of large wounds in 1886.
