Insights for LES from structure-based turubulence modeling,(SGS) models and the distortion of sub-grid turbulence by the large eddies is like the distortion of homogeneous turbulence by mean deformation. Numerical simulation of atmospheric turbulence,ic boundary layer and then some failures. The successes are the simulation of the Convective Boundary Layer (CBL) and the Neutral Boundary Layer (NBL).
