Sorcery in the Libretto of Handel’s er stated that the libretto was based on Grazio Braccioli’s .,. which was set to music by Giovanni Antonio Ristori (1713), Antonio Vivaldi (1727) and others; this view was repeated as late as 1959 in the “new and revised” edition of the Handel biography by Newman Flower.
