Literacy in Egypt,chapter contains a number of research studies conducted to understand how literacy develops among Arabic speakers with a focus on literacy in Egypt. The chapter concludes with implications for further research and in particular the need to understand how young Egyptian children develop their reading abilities and how best to support them.
