Active to Passive Transition in the High-Temperature Oxidation of CVD SiC and Si3N4osphere. The transition was clearly observed in Ar-O. and N.-O. atmospheres, whereas in CO-CO. atmosphere the active oxidation changed gradually into passive oxidation. The transition mechanism was thermodynamically discussed using Wagner’s model and a volatility diagram.
