Meanings of Nouns and Noun Phrases, and Aspect in English, regarded as a quasi-auxiliary or as one that is deprived of a large part of its primary lexical meaning. The essence of the action in these expressions is denoted by the noun rather than the verb, and the noun often has a verb equivalent: ., etc.
