The Influence of Variation in Groundwater Table on Ground Vibrations from Underground Tunnelsnstrate that the vibration levels increase as the groundwater table drops. The displacement field is similar to that of a saturated half-space when the groundwater table is above the tunnel, while it is similar to that of a dry single-phase half-space as the groundwater table is under the tunnel.

A Stress–Dependent Approach for Estimation of Drum–Soil Contact Areat algorithms. The contact area of the drum was estimated based on the stress distribution at the soil–drum interface for more representative pavement responses than those obtained from Hertzian models. The contact areas from this approach showed good agreement with those measured in the field.
