The Onset of Dilute Polymer Solution Phenomena and three types of onset hypotheses are evaluated against experimental data. A semi-empirical correlation is presented for onset in pipes. Onset results are used to derive the ratios of macromolecular/eddy length and time scales. The possible influence of steric factors is noted.
