Electrochemical Sensors for the Detection of Superoxide and Nitric Oxide — Two Biologically Importanhave been developed. Transition metal complexes have been applied for the enhancement of NO electrocatalysis lowering the applied electrode potential. More recently haem proteins have also been combined with electrodes. Based on direct protein-electrode contacts, NO sensing is feasible exploiting specific NO interaction with the haem group.
