Surface Structure Investigation with Ion Scattering and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy at Oxygen and ourfold hollow site of oxygen or nitrogen above Cu atoms has been deduced for the Cu.Au(100) surface. Cu.Au(110) is less inert and oxygen adsorption is readily achieved by gas exposure.
