Scientific Deep Drilling and Geophysical Sounding: A Mutual Scientific Challenge to Understand the Pe and high chemical reaction rates challenges the imagination and abilities of the best of the engineers. Super-deep drilling is also a tremendous challenge to all geoscientists since it provides “basic truths” for a wide spectrum of remote sensing and imaging methods that can be applied to the crystalline crust.

Geodynamic Map of the USSR: A New Scientific Base for Regional and Deep Geological-Geophysical Invesmic Map of 1:900 000 000 scale, compiled by the Institute of Oceanology of the USSR Academy of Sciences; (2) tectonic plate maps of 1:17 000 000 scale; and (3) a geodynamic map of 1:10 000 000 scale of the Circum-Pacific Region. (These are good maps; however, the continental surroundings have not been considered on them.)

Scientific Drilling Technologies for Hostile Environmentsed for engines, gas turbines, and other systems that run at temperatures close to 1000 ˚C. All of these systems can be tapped for technologies used in high-temperature deep drilling. The major limitation to such development is lack of commercial interest in high-temperature drilling; companies are not willing to provide the needed field hardware.
