Exploratory Statistical Analysis of Tropical Oceanic Convection Using Discrete Wavelet Transforms,tem into three distinct regimes: highly organized squall-lines, less organized nonsquall cloud clusters, and scattered convection (a detailed description of these regimes can be found in Section 2.1). In interpreting the numerical output according to these three regimes, we will draw on recent statistical methodology for image analysis.
