Gas-Phase Electron Diffraction,When a beam of fast electrons hits a set of randomly oriented molecules, the electrons are deflected by the charge distribution of the molecules. The resulting diffraction pattern contains information on the relative positions of the atoms within the molecules, and also on intramolecular motions.
