Nucleus as a Chiral Filter: The Role of the Δ (1232)dler-Weisberger relation, it is argued that the observed ~ 50% quenching of the Gamow-Teller strength reflects the possibility that the Gamow-Teller operator sees the quarks inside the bag, blind to the Goldstone vacuum outside. Observation of M1 Strength in Medium-Heavy Nuclei via the (p,p′) Reactiontent with an orbital angular momentum transfer of zero. The excitation energy, angular distribution and strength of the resonance suggest that it is the giant M1 resonance. In the nickel isotopes, and in .V, both the T. and T.+1 components of the resonance are observed.
