Soziologie sozialer Probleme als politische Bildungrößere Herausforderungen gestellt. Einerseits erfordert die Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands zwingend eine Neuorientierung, andererseits ergeben sich aus und mit der Vereinigung, aber auch unabhängig von dieser, gesellschaftliche Schlüsselprobleme, die ein neues Aufgabenfeld — insbesondere auch für die politische Bildung — darstellen.
