Measurement of Shkeletal Muscle Cross-Sectional Area,Muscle cross-sectional area (CSA) is related to muscle volume and can be used to study muscle atrophy, while its shape can also change dramatically during muscle contraction. This chapter focuses on several recent reports on the calculation of muscle cross-sectional area under ultrasound, including one report using deep learning.

Ultrasound Image Analysis Using AI,l image analysis. Certainly, such technical advancements in artificial intelligence also enable some new possibilities in the investigation of skeletal muscle using ultrasound imaging, both for existing or new topics. In this chapter, two examples related to this advancement are introduced.
