The Stanza, The two exceptions, . and ., use a simple 4-line stanza rhyming aaaa. Troubadour stanza-form, having already been thoroughly analysed by A. Jeanroy and others, requires no further elaboration from me; what I hope to demonstrate is the wealth of possibilities which Hadewijch found in it.

Moreover, they both deal with approximately the same subject, the difficulties of the service of Love, but in two different ways, so that the total effect is completely different.
