A Mathematical Introduction,This chapter does not really deal with electromagnetism, but it is needed as the mathematical foundation for the vector treatment of this subject. It is the purpose of this chapter to give a brief exposition of basic mathematical elements to provide an introduction to the field theory which is required for a treatment of electromagnetism.
