Different Periodicities in the Sunspot Area and the Occurrence of Solar Flares and Coronal Mass Eje996 to 2011. We find that the flux emergence, represented by sunspot area, has multiple periodicities. Flares and CMEs, however, do not occur with the same period as the flux emergence. Using the results of this study, we discuss the possible activity sources producing emerging flux.
