Thin layers on glass substrates demonstrated waveguiding and exhibited diffraction through the use of an optical grating written on the surface.

Crystallization of Barium Titanate from Monolithic Alcogels mixed metal methoxyethoxide precursor solution. The gels were dried in air to yield xerogels. The perovskite phase was clearly identified by XRD for gels dried above 75°C. FTIR revealed the presence of some residual organic species and/or carbonates which were released by 800°C.
