By that, I mean the process whereby events or cases are classified as examples of a class, where the categorization carries social, perhaps legal, consequences or implications.

Explaining Variation in Attitudes toward Income Equalityy held in The Netherlands in October 1980.. One of its conclusions was that, in 1980, members of the economically active population were characterized by highly egalitarian attitudes with regard to the distribution of income. In all ranges of the income hierarchy, there was a clear preference for smaller income differentials.
