Extracellular Changes of Aspartate, Glutamate, and Taurine in Relation to DC Changes during CompleteCortical spreading depression (CSD) and complete cerebral ischemia (CCI) are accompanied by a similar negative deflection of the DC signal of about 20 mV (Caspers et al., 1987; Hansen, 1985). Both events have been found to be analogous (Hansen, 1985) on the basis of similar ionic changes occurring concomitantly with the DC shift.
