Integrated Photonics,on photonics are made. Monolithic and hybrid integration are discussed throughout the chapter with attention to cost, manufacturability, and performance. Potential applications, design issues, and packaging issues are addressed. Special attention is given to processing problems common in silicon-based optical systems.
