Soft Chemical Synthesis of Functionalized Silicenecenes can be prepared by modifying a layered polysilane (Si.H.), which has an analogous structure to that of graphite, and this allows the properties of the silicene to be controlled in order to make it suitable for particular applications. The potential applications of these silicenes and organic modified silicenes are also reviewed.
