The Tale-Tellers: I,owed separately from this point; in chronological terms it makes sense to focus first on the traditional short story. This flourished in the early years of the twentieth century, while the seed sown by the prose poem and psychological sketch took longer to germinate, to flower eventually in modernist short fiction.
