Shocks in the L 1551-IRS5 Outflow Optical and Near-Infrared Imaging,he intermediate-to-high excitation shocks in the flow (v. > 30 – 50 km s.), the near-IR data reveal the lower-excitation, molecular shocks (v. ~ 10 – 50 km s.). In particular, the H. data highlight the regions where the flow impacts and shocks ambient molecular gas.

Smoke Rings Around Supernova 1987A,l ring is expanding radially outward at 8.3 km s.. The rings must have been created ∼ 2–3 × 10. years before the supernova explosion and are thought to be a consequence of the interaction of stellar winds emanating from the progenitor system during the final stages of its evolution to a supernova.
