,Shelley’s Views of Poetry,al causes, nor of its metaphysical and epistemological foundations. He was not what we would nowadays call a “theorist” of poetry, or of language more generally: not even in the senses in which Herder, Schlegel, Sainte-Beuve, or Arnold, let alone Heidegger or de Man, were theorists of these things.
