Serotoninergic Function and Aggression in AnimalsSerotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT) has for some time been implicated in the control of aggression. Early work on 5-HT and aggression indicated that general 5-HT activation decreased aggression, whereas an overall inactivation of 5-HT by various means enhanced it (Valzelli, 1981).
