Structural Organization and Communicatory Functions of Olfaction in Nonhuman Primates,e likely to record a visual or vocal pattern of communication than an odor. Therefore, much of the chemical communication possibly going on in a primate group escapes notice during direct observation. In spite of these limitations, evidence for the use of chemical signals in primate communication has accumulated during recent years.
