The Arrival in Antarctica, encountering the Great Ice Barrier on January 11 and entering the Bay of Whales, where, on January 15, 1911, the 19 men and 116 dogs greet their new home. At the end of the chapter, the author presents the names of the dogs – the original adults from Greenland and the puppies born on the ship – who reached Antarctica.
