Sediments,density, grain size, and shape. Floating matter of mostly organic derivation strictly speaking also belongs to the solids. However, quantitatively it is negligible compared to the mineral yield of the rivers and can thus be omitted from further considerations of river morphology, at least as far as central European conditions are concerned.

Investigations in River Morphology,ic understanding of the processes of bed formation, from both a geological as well as a river morphological and engineering point of view (Lane 1955). Increased cooperation between the geologist and engineer has proved to be beneficial, even mandatory in this context.
