Role of Arterial Chemoreceptors in Ventilatory Acclimation to High Altitude in Unanesthetized Pekin (N2-test) were studied in awake Pekin Ducks before (intact) and after chronic bilateral carotid body denervation (denervated) or after sham operation (control). The experiments were performed in an altitude chamber near sea level (barometric pressure P. = 750 torr) and at various stages of a 3-week exposure to 3000 m (P. = 530 torr).
