Low Temperature Reactions in Photosynthesis across the thylakoid lamellae are generated upon illumination, due to a low permeability of the membrane. Similar results were obtained with bacterial chromatophores. Analysis of the absorption changes indicates an electrochromic rather than a conformational change of the bacterial pigments.
