Learning from Youth-Focused Prevention Models,standing of effective prevention programming, especially with youth. As is often the case, learning comes from both success and failure. In this chapter, we present four influential youth-focused prevention models. Our intention is to identify lessons learned and describe how to integrate these models into a Lifestyle Risk Reduction approach.

Behavior,tegrate several, more narrowly focused models. To us, both the Public Health Model and the Lifestyle Risk Reduction Model are broad enough to encompass other models. In particular, the Lifestyle Risk Reduction Model has the precision to show how the more targeted, youth-focused models fit into the bigger picture.

Concluding Remarks,proaches for youth and associated research are reviewed. The integrating model approach which is presented, called Lifestyle Risk Reduction, provides tangible ways to assist individuals in altering their high-risk behaviors, with the goal of reducing their risk for alcohol and drug problems across the lifespan.
