Real Time Coupling of Hydrologic and Meteorological Models for Flood Forecastingservations. The nature of the real-time coupling of these stochastic-dynamical hydro-meteorological models is investigated. The cases for which such coupling of meteorological and hydrologic components appears to be most beneficial to flood forecasting are identified. Some promising research areas are also indicated.

Framework for Erosion and Sediment Yield Modeling erosion, bed sediment infiltration and storage; and channel sediment routing. The sophistication of model numerical solution techniques is not matched by that of available data provision methodologies or the current understanding of the relevant processes.

Book 1991 systems were developed a genera tion ago. Much of the effort since then has focused on refining these models rather than on developing new models based on improved scientific understanding. In the past few years, however, a renewed effort has been made to improve both our fundamental understanding
