Glucocorticoids and Asthma,n are now better understood (Barnes 1998, 2001). Corticosteroids are effective clinically because they block many of the inflammatory pathways that are abnormally activated in asthma and they have a very broad spectrum of anti-inflammatory actions.

Bone Effects of Glucocorticoid Therapy, of glucocorticoids causes a loss of bone mass and pathological fractures, especially in the skeletal areas that are rich in trabecular bone. In addition to osteoporosis, large doses of glucocorticoids could lead to aseptic osteonecrosis affecting mainly proximal femur.

Functional Implications of Glucocorticoid Receptor Trafficking, icoid receptor (GR). The GR is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors and regulates the transcriptional activity of a diverse subset of genes via its direct interaction with promoter-linked target sequences or interaction with unique transcription fact

The Dynamics of Intranuclear Movement and Chromatin Remodeling by the Glucocorticoid Receptor, eptor (GR) is found almost exclusively in the cytoplasm in the absence of ligand, and translocates rapidly to the nucleus after addition of hormone to the cells (Htun et al. 1996; Hager et al. 1998). Once located in the nucleus, the view from classic endocrinology has been that the receptor binds ra
