Reading Tocqueville: Diachrony, Synchrony and New Perspectives, belonged to political science and history. Since his death, they have also spilled over into sociology, philosophy, administrative and constitutional law, and even literary analysis.. In addition, his political career has become an object of veritable interest to us.

Tocqueville, European Integration and Free Moeurs,estions relying, as much as possible, on the ‘help’ of Tocqueville — that is, on his insights, categories and values. Obviously, what follows is not a detailed analysis of his thought, but rather an attempt to apply some of his ideas to the process of European integration. If I were to claim more than that, it would be presumption.
